In the 1950s, Capri was at the center of a world of elegance, freedom, and cultural cross-pollination. It was in this setting that Gigino Esposito's tailor shop was born, becoming a benchmark for a cosmopolitan clientele, drawn by the quality of his work and his original vision. Alongside him, Maria Luisa preserved and passed down a knowledge made of gestures, experience, and memory.
Today, Michele and Augusto embrace this legacy and transform it into a contemporary project, keeping intact what truly matters: the value of handcraftsmanship and creative freedom.
The shop
The Laboratorio Capri boutique is a space that tells the story of the island in every detail. Amidst vintage furniture, ceramics, and textiles, a visual universe takes shape, made of contrasts, colors, and references to Capri's tradition. In the back, the work often continues: hands that refine, adjust, and complete. It is a real place, where fashion is not just exhibition, but creation. Where every customer enters and becomes part of a story that is never the same as the previous one.
THE NEW GENERATION
After experiences in the international fashion system between Milan and London, Michele and Augusto Esposito return to Capri with the intention of reinterpreting the legacy of their family's historic tailor shop through a more contemporary, REFINED, and recognizable language. This is how Laboratorio Capri was born: an independent maison that blends artisan savoir-faire, textile research, and international aesthetic sensibility, while maintaining a deep connection with the island and its cultural imagery. Capri's sartorial tradition is reinterpreted through a new creative direction featuring fluid volumes, Mediterranean colors, exclusive prints, and constant product research. Each collection takes shape within the workshop, where the artisan's touch continues to play a central role: from fabric design to silhouette study, all the way to the final finishes. The production approach remains deliberately limited and non-industrial.
